Cuivre River State Park - Coleoptera Inventory Project 2005-2007

85 Families, 1236 Species ...and counting

The primary objective of the Coleoptera inventory project at Cuivre River State Park is to document the beetle species occurring at the park.

Secondary objectives are to 1) identify potentially conservative species or species that might be a conservation concern for the park due to limited or vulnerable habitat, 2) to report exotic or invasive species occurring in the park, 3) to record habitat types and associations for Coleoptera species occurring in the park, and 4) to record faunal differences between areas managed with prescribed burns vs. unburned areas.

This project was begun in the fall of 2005, funded in part by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. It is planned to continue through the Fall of 2006.

Coleoptera from J. Blake, University of Missouri, St. Louis - 95 Malaise trap samples were taken at Cuivre River State Park in 1997-98 as part of research on bird populations and resource abundance.

Staphylinidae from Cuivre River State Park (2008); 397 species (299 identified, 98 unidentified).
